Riva's was founded by Riva Mackie, and her husband Andrew. Having both grown up in the Calgary area, the couple hopes to play a part in bringing about positive change in the city they call home.
Riva became a Natural Health and Alternative Living enthusiast after health problems led her to question many truths of our modern world. She is currently a practitioner of Structural Integration and a Co-Chapter leader of the Calgary division of the Weston A. Price Foundation, a group dedicated to the study and practice of traditional health and nutrition. Most days you can find her at the store, ready to greet you, answer any questions and entertain all manner of friendly discussion.
Andrew holds degrees in both Architecture and Fine Art and is currently practicing a combination of both. Having found a lack of products available for green design, he brought a building products department to the store, hoping to provide important products to designers and do-it-yourselfers. He has an office and studio in the mezzanine of the store and will often be available to answer any bulding product or design queries.
